Leadership Vocational Program
"Our Soroti leadership Vocational Academy "
VOCATIONAL CONCEPT
"Where" & "Why"?
For our pilot vocational project (2012-2015), Lakewood Leadership Academy will erect her - Very First Vocational Academy - in Uganda (East Africa), on a five-ten acres piece of land (yet to be secured) in Soroti District to serve (South Sudan, Uganda & Kenya).
"Why"?
Since our (Lwla.int) establishment in 2006, - a year in which we saw our very first initiative, with a set-up of a leadership training community center in Cincinnati Ohio (USA)-[under M/S Kara Lee], We have seen our programs reach and help thousands of people achieve their professional and personal development goals (dreams), and enabled them to become inspiring leaders (in their communities) who transform others and/ or the organizations they are associated with, [as reflected in some of the Testimonials on our front page]. .
And it’s has been upon such humble achievements, that (Lwla.Int), has continued to strive to establish more -Grass Root Resource Training Centers, in a bid to reach more communities both locally and internationally – especially in the developing nations. And in early 2010, we lunch our first oversea branch in Uganda (East Africa) to coordinate the activities in Africa- (under the leadership of M/s Rita Jjumba)..
Following the later, In Feb /2012 LWLA would elect her third project in Soroti-District (Eastern Uganda) to serve the regions of (South Sudan, Uganda & Kenya ) & To pave way for our Pilot Vocational Academy for this region, [under the Leadership of Mr. Chris Ochaloi - Principal Administrator & Mr. Ekolu Henry - Training Manager & Project Coordinator..
( More information to be post).
Our Grass Root Leadership Project
"The Solution to Eradicate Poverty in the Developing World! Why and How?"
CONCEPT
The "Why"?
Sustainable change must be brought about in a parternship with the experts of poverty (the poor) - those who battle poverty day in and day out as a way of life… however, primarily because it is all they have as "exposure" to life.
And yes, it sounds ironical, to refer to the poor as the experts of poverty…, yet, (with all due respect), given that repetition is the best model for mastering skill.., the poor do qualify for this role, -“The Experts of Poverty”, by means of being more knowledgeable of their challenges, needs and above all, the availablility of the resources around them…, thus presenting them, the best expert to consult with, work with in an effort to address their chellenges… (Povert Eradition)
Our model is to make the poor a partener from the preliminary groundwork campaigns- of defining their challenges, to crafting feasible solutions to these challenges, and in leading the implementation processes…, thus forstering ownership and sustainability of these solutions.
As exposing "the poor" to this “New role of leadership”-(involvement and empowerment), - a new way of thinking about their challenges, will provide them with a diverse knowledge and options, to tailor specific solutions to their needs in a harmony to their abilities and their available resources. And with such input, from the “poor”, these solutions are prone to be more realistic, achievable and sustainable to them , then would otherwise be, when the well intending donor community continues to exclude them from this vital stage of being part of the difining phase of their challenges, for solutions that are in alignment with their- passions, abilities and resources..
The "How"?
As a pilot project, Lakewood Leadership Academy will erect its foundation in Uganda, East Africa, on a five-ten acres piece of land (yet to be secured) in Soroti- to serve (South Sudan, Uganda & Kenya ).

The Academy is founded upon the dream of extending both Career and Economic opportunities to the grass roots (the poor), as they constitute the population majority in any developing country, and thus a fundamental populous for growth and development of any Nation, Country or Continent. (Yet less or not utilized at all)
Despite the noticeable global indicators of its effect, leadership training or Personal development has not yet been adequately employed if at all... as a solution to the challenges of the developing nations, consequently greatly undermining the cultivation of a locally profound self sustaining structure to attend to epidemics like poverty, hence subscribing our present and future to depend on the “quick fixes” from the developed world.
To bridge this gap that is long over due her establishment (LWLA) will focus & attend to the diverse,
unexploited talents that still lay at the Grass roots, by way of providing both community and individual opportunities to discover and identify with talents & potential that attend to their social needs and demands. And for the political and economical stature to acknowledge and appreciate them as
radical constituent to these developing Nation’s development faction!
With a practical & experiential methodology of training and an underpinning philosophy of attitude change (personal development), the Academy will offer both long and short-term certificate training programs (3-6moths) & sensitization seminaries (1-3days) in areas including, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity, Basic leadership skills /personal development and Resource management, Vocational Arts/ discipline and Information technology.
It is this unique yet ordinary of her (why and how?), that LWLA's impact will significantly attend to the Causes rather than the Symptoms (quick fix) lamentation of poverty Eradication that only includes the Experts of poverty (the poor) at the implementation stage of solutions drafted and motioned by parties and institutions outside the poverty scope.
I sincerely invite and welcome partnerships, contributions, donations and Grants, as an effort or joint venture to make this dream a reality.
Truly Robert Kayanja.
